License for Domini Secretum

Description

This non-transferable license allows for unlimited printing and sharing virtually with all students in one school building. It does not expire. This a license for Domini Secretum: A Latin Novella. To purchase and receive the licensed novella as a PDF, you must complete both your purchase order as well as submit the licensing information. As a physical book, this novella is available for $12.00 on Amazon or in bulk on Bombax Press.

With this license, it is permissible to print copies of Domini Secretum using a school’s copier or print shop for use by students at the school. It is also permissible to share the licensed content directly with students in Google Classroom (or a similar program). Compared to purchasing a class set of novellas for $12.00 each, this is a steal at $150.

Aquilinus is a teenager who lives in a beautiful house in Rome. He’s also a slave in that house whose life is about to be upended and his family torn apart. Aquilinus’ father Ferox, once a proud Gallic chieftain who was captured and enslaved during the Gallic War, loses his temper and berates their master Valens during Saturnalia. Worse, Ferox reveals that he knows something terrible about Valens, a secret that Valens thought he had left safely behind in war. This secret threatens to undermine Valens’ political ambitions, and his fiery, angry response has tragic repercussions for Aquilinus and his mother Euphemia. Aquilinus becomes consumed by his need to understand what happened to his father and to know his master’s terrible secret.

Domini Secretum is intended for use at the Latin II/III level. It is 8,000 words long, and it uses 222 words to constitute that length. Of those words, 42 are glossed words that are used infrequently. Another 18 of those words are proper nouns, like Rome or Aquilinus, and a further 26 words are clear cognates that are used infrequently in the story.
