License for Cupido et Psyche

Description

This non-transferable license allows for unlimited printing and sharing virtually with all students in one school building. It does not expire. This license is for Cupido et Psyche: A Latin Novella. To purchase and receive the licensed novella as a PDF, you must complete both your purchase order as well as submit the licensing information. As a physical book, this novella is available for $12.00 on Amazon or in bulk on Bombax Press.

With this license, it is permissible to print copies of Cupido et Psyche using a school’s copier or print shop for use by students at the school. It is also permissible to share the licensed content directly with students in Google Classroom (or a similar program). Compared to purchasing a class set of novellas for $12.00 each, this is a steal at $150.

Jealousy, love, fear, and betrayal. Everyone admires Psyche for her beauty, but Psyche wants to be loved for herself, not her appearance. Even her own sisters secretly envy Psyche’s beauty and good fortune. Only Psyche considers herself unfortunate. When people begin worshiping Psyche as the goddess of love despite her best efforts, Psyche unintentionally rouses the anger of Venus herself. Will Psyche escape Venus’ wrath and her sisters’ terrible jealousy? Or will she find herself married to her greatest fear, a truly monstrous snake?

Cupido et Psyche: a Latin Novella is intended for use in Latin III or IV in a four-year program in high school. Some students may be able to read and comprehend it in Latin II. It may also be appropriate for extensive reading by more advanced Latin students.

Cupido et Psyche is about 8,800 words long, and it uses 350 words total to make up those 8,800 words. Of those 350 words, there are 6 names and 38 clear English cognates in English. Fifty words are glossed that appeared fewer than ten times. After names, cognates, and glosses are subtracted from the 350 total words that constitute the novella’s 8,800-word length, a student needs to know 253 words to read this entire novella.
